Mama Money is a growth stage fintech startup working to help migrant workers in South Africa send money home. Since 2015 we have been providing reliable remittances, at a socially fair price, to those that need it most.

Mama HQ is in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa. We are 131 people strong (and counting) from 19 countries across Africa, Asia, the UK, and Europe. As our Regional Area Manager (DUR) you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to Area Managers (AMs), ensuring alignment with regional and company-wide goals.
  • Monitor overall regional performance, identifying trends and addressing underperformance through regular review meetings with AMs.
  • Oversee the execution of customer acquisition campaigns and activations across all Growth Points in the region, ensuring consistency and effectiveness.
  • Evaluate the performance of Growth Points through site visits, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement, addressing escalated challenges and driving improvements.
  • Lead and manage regional communication channels, such as WhatsApp groups, to ensure consistent motivation, updates, and clear directives.
  • Review weekly reports submitted by AMs, providing actionable feedback and escalating critical issues to senior management as needed.
  • Develop and implement strategies for recruitment, retention, and training across the region, ensuring sustainable growth and agent performance.
  • Conduct quarterly coaching and performance evaluation sessions for AMs, fostering their professional growth and leadership skills.
  • Oversee the creation and execution of Area Growth Plans, ensuring alignment with broader regional objectives and measurable outcomes.
  • Ensure the equitable distribution of marketing materials and equipment across the region, addressing logistical or operational gaps promptly.
  • Analyze regional performance data, including Growth Points, activations, and recruitment metrics, to identify opportunities for optimization and innovation.
  • Enforce compliance with company policies and standards across all areas within the region, addressing violations proactively.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align regional strategies with national objectives, contributing insights and recommendations for broader initiatives.
  • Organize and attend high-impact events to strengthen brand presence, increase acquisition, and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Conduct audits of equipment, vehicles, and marketing materials at the regional level, ensuring accountability and adherence to company standards.
  • Lead monthly Regional Manager forums or meetings, providing updates, sharing best practices, and aligning AMs on performance goals.
  • Act as the primary liaison between Area Managers and senior management, ensuring smooth communication and the timely resolution of escalated challenges.
  • Champion innovation and process improvements within the region, driving efficiencies and enhancing the overall customer and agent experience.
About you:
  • Valid drivers license & working visa.
It would be a bonus if:
  • You have experience working in Mama Money or other MTO’s currently, and have experience leading teams.
