Job description

Job Responsibilities

  1. Manage a restaurant in accordance with Restaurant’s Policies and Procedures.
  2. Maximize restaurant sales and profitability by effective deployment of labor, assets, and production costs.
  3. Maintain excellence in the execution of all duties.
  4. Focus on exceeding customer expectations.
  5. Develop and train staff, providing negative and positive reinforcement, and recognizing and rewarding superior performance.
  6. Maximize profitability by monitoring food, packaging, and labor costs as well as controllable expenditure to ensure alignment with established targets.
  7. Ensure that all restaurant resources, i.e., labor, product, supplies, tills, and equipment are at the correct levels to meet various volumes of business.
  8. Adhere to all cash handling and in-restaurant banking procedures at all times.
  9. Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock checks in the restaurant.
  10. Ensure correct levels of supplies are ordered, deliveries checked, and stock levels monitored on a daily and weekly basis; investigate and report any discrepancies.
  11. Prepare weekly labor schedules in advance, ensuring all shifts are properly staffed and that labor costs align with the budget.
  12. Ensure staff recruitment complies with the Company’s non-discriminatory policy.
  13. Ensure all staff receive comprehensive induction and training to perform assigned tasks, encouraging progression through the training program.
  14. Provide development for staff and ensure succession planning is carried out for full management of the restaurant.
  15. Follow Policies and Procedures to minimize employee relations issues within the restaurant.
  16. Action recruitment and termination payroll change documentation and forward updates to the HR Department.
  17. Coordinate, hold, and record monthly staff meetings to discuss various issues affecting the restaurant/team.
  18. Ensure that all staff and management are fully trained in fire procedures, health, safety, and food hygiene practices as well as security and robbery procedures.
  19. Complete all daily, weekly, and monthly administration accurately in line with procedures.
  20. Keep accurate operating reports.
  21. Ensure standards are in accordance with HACCP.
  22. Ensure Safety, Health, and Hygiene standards comply with statutory regulations.
  23. Carry out Local Store Marketing activities as authorized by the Regional Operations Manager.
  24. Monitor local competitor activity and any local activities that may affect business volume.
  25. Coordinate the implementation of in-store promotions and ensure all staff are fully briefed in advance of promotions.
  26. Monitor operating practices and address any identified problems.
  27. Treat each person in the restaurant fairly and with respect.
  28. Recognize individuals frequently and encourage them to recognize each other.
  29. Coach and support staff, ensuring that job training is effective.
  30. Demonstrate teamwork by assisting staff and management, cross-training them, resolving concerns, and holding regular team meetings.
  31. Hire, develop, and promote restaurant staff in consultation with the Area/Regional manager.
  32. Administer progressive discipline as needed, ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations.

Requirements

  1. Grade 12 / NQF 4
  2. 3 years Fast Food / Restaurant Manager experience, preferably with KFC or Pizza Hut
  3. Creditworthiness (ITC check) and no criminal record
