About the role

We are seeking a Utility Manager to report on variances to the client, provide support to business unit on utility matters, manage the SLA with the utility management company on behalf of the client, administer utility billings to tenants and report on utility income, report on utility expense and queries.

Manage staff effectively and provide guidance in terms of utility tasks.

Present annual utility training to the team to ensure all parties are up to date with the latest workflow and industry standards.

Meet client's standards in terms of utility management as set out in the Service Level Agreement with the client, to plan, direct, coordinate and budget, either personally or through subordinate personnel, all activities concerned with the sustainability management of projects related to the national portfolio, whether capex, Tenant Installation or otherwise related which may include building construction and proactive preventative maintenance projects of assets.

2. At least 5 years minimum experience within a utility's environment.

In this role, you will be required to:

1. Implement environmental sustainability policies within portfolio.
2. Ensure appropriate utility management practices carried out within properties.
3. Monitor usage of utilities.
4. Generate cost savings in consumption of electricity and water.
5. Introduce innovative greening initiatives for portfolio.
6. Monitor the Funds' BEE strategy through appropriate procurement practices.
7. Asset identification and management of asset register.
8. Design and establish suitable procedures for planned sustainable projects for their designated areas and devise methods and procedures for effective control of the function, taking into account cost and effectiveness.
9. Project management of identified portfolio wide sustainable management initiatives.
10. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., OHSA) and maintain records of compliance matters.
11. ESG and sustainability reports.
12. Green council certification management.
13. Water saving initiatives and reporting.
14. Leak management.
15. Generator and Diesel usage management as well as recovery thereof.
16. Single line diagram management.
17. Site balancing and performance reviews.
18. Financial reports and accruals.
19. Tenant billing reviews and audits.
20. Council query management.
21. Annual tariff audits.
22. Full utility management and overview as well as management of sub-contractors from a solar, borehole, diesel, generator, gas and meter reading.
