R&D Weapons Mechatronics Engineer

Job Title : R&D Weapons Mechatronics Engineer (Jnr)

Location : Centurion - Hennopspark

Salary : Market related

Vacancy Type : Full-Time

Non-negotiable qualifications and experience required :

• Matric with average of 85% (non-negotiable);
• BEng / BSc in Mechatronics Engineering, Electronics, or equivalent;
• 0-1 year experience in R&D or systems engineering;
• Strong understanding of control systems, robotics, and embedded platforms;
• Proficient in CAD (e.g., SolidWorks), circuit design tools (e.g., Altium), and C / C++ or Python;
• Experience with sensors, actuators, and feedback control loops.

Beneficial requirements :

• Exposure to military-grade systems, weapons platforms, or fire-control systems;
• Familiarity with MIL-STD requirements and environmental testing (EMI, shock, vibration);
• Knowledge of autonomous systems or target tracking algorithms.

Duties and responsibilities :

• Design and develop mechatronic subsystems for advanced weapon platforms (e.g., turrets, guided systems, fire-control modules);
• Integrate mechanical, electronic, and software components into compact, rugged, and field-ready solutions;
• Develop and test actuators, sensors, control systems, and embedded electronics for real-time operation;
• Contribute to concept development, prototyping, and verification testing;
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including software, mechanical, and systems engineers;
• Apply safety and compliance standards in line with military and defence specifications.
