Job Description
To implement and maintain the quality system in the Geochem Rustenburg facility so as to ensure total compliance to ISO17025, SGS SA high level procedures and SGS Global requirements.

1. Operate to the highest standard of ethics as indicated in SGS integrity programs;
2. Maintain an up to date scope of testing and co-ordination of the documentation and standard operating procedures required to comply with laboratory ISO accreditation;
3. Evaluate data in quality role but shall not report opinions and interpretations;
4. Facilitate and monitor method validation process in the laboratory;
5. Coordinate and administer the improvement system;
6. Build relationships with all technical and professional personnel;
7. Build relationships with suppliers and clientele;
8. Assist with the evaluation and root cause analysis of proficiency tests, customer complaints, audit findings and improvement requests;
9. Provide planned quality related training and awareness as required;
10. Plan, schedule and perform quality assessments to provide certainty that the quality control activities are being done effectively;
11. Facilitate and plan all management reviews;
12. Ensure integrity of monthly inputs into the QSHE Report;
13. Be able to statistically evaluate data;
14. Develop a document control system for the laboratory which is in line with SGS high level system document and ISO requirements;
15. Provide guidance and direction to laboratory personnel with respect to quality control and proper documentation in implementing methodologies and data reporting;
16. Provide constant feedback to Manager on status of quality in the laboratory;
17. Work with a safety conscious attitude that demonstrates good and safe work habits;
18. Travel, shift work and overtime may be required;
19. Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager;
20. Any person has the right to refuse to perform work that may damage the environment in an imminent and serious way and to report such a situation.

Qualifications
Education

1. BSc degree or diploma in science
2. ISO or College Quality Assurance Program Diploma

Experience

1. 5 Years work experience in a laboratory testing environment;
2. 5 Years ISO system experience (ISO 9000, 17025 or other);
3. Advanced Microsoft software experience;
4. Document and report writing experience;
5. Statistical Quality Control knowledge would be advantageous.
