QUALITY CONTROLLER

Duties

  1. Inspect product on the production line ensuring that it adheres to company product standards, work instructions and specifications of the client daily (as per Work Instruction WI-013/WI-014/WI-015):
  2. Ensure that the description on the Sales Order corresponds to the Work Ticket and Proof.
  3. Ensure that the Requisition Form (GPF03-02-005) is completed by all relevant role-players.
  4. Ensure that Proof, Master, In Process Form and Sales Order are in the Work Ticket.
  5. Ensure that the correct Die and Ink are issued for the job.
  6. Ensure that the physical roll of paper matches up with what was issued on the Requisition Form (GPF03-02-005).
  7. Ensure that all paper issued have a barcode for traceability (This barcode should be placed on the back of the In Process Form (GPF03-02-014)).
  8. Ensure that material is calculated for each job.
  9. Ensure that various jobs that share one roll of paper the sales order form the initial print must be written on the back of the In Process Form (GPF03-02-014).
  10. Ensure the Machine Minders check the die before setting up the printing job.
  11. Ensure that the backing sheet is checked to ensure that the die is not cutting through.
  12. Ensure to check the 2 repeat lengths of the printing cylinder.
  13. Ensure that the first repeat length of the print cylinder strip of labels is checked for:
    1. The type of printing plate.
    2. The gaps.
  14. Ensure that the first check is signed off to ensure that the label complies with the proof and master.
  15. Ensure that the Time, Date, Work Ticket Number, and signature appears on the back of the backing sheet to show that it is approved.
  16. Ensure that the first label is placed on the In Process Form with the date, time and signature.
  17. Ensure that the sample sheet is attached to the back of the In Process Form.
  18. Masters:
    1. Ensure that there are 4x masters on each new job.
    2. Ensure that a master is taken from the “Masterfile” should the master go missing.
    3. Ensure that when there is a change in jobs the old master should be removed from the “Masterfile.”
    4. Ensure that all masters are filed according to clients in alphabetical order (Name of Product).
  19. Ensure that all checks are done and correct before a machine minder runs the job.
  20. Ensure that flagging is done if there is a non-compliance to the proof, master, colour specification or quality issue.
  21. Ensure that cylinder numbers and anilox numbers are indicated at the back of the work ticket.
  22. Ensure that counters are in good working order to safeguard that material count is correct.
  23. Ensure that authority is exercised to stop a production run if the quality is not up to standard or to address a high-risk non-conformance and urgently communicate situation to the Sales Director daily.
  24. Ensure that all paperwork is completed correctly relating to quality checks and in full with each job.
  25. Perform barcode verifications before and during production runs. Escalate any non-compliance to the Sales Director immediately.
  26. Conduct relevant testing and check measuring and testing equipment to comply with specifications specifically scales and machine counters weekly.
  27. Conducting a Root Cause Analysis and problem-solving investigation as required.
  28. Assist the Sales Director with implementing corrective and preventative actions to avoid recurrence on non-conformances as occurred.
  29. Ensure internal and external audits are carried out as required.
  30. Assisting with customer and third-party inspection matters.
  31. Monitor waste of product, record reasons for waste and report to the department head.
  32. Compile and submit monthly reports as required on time.
  33. Compile / improve Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
  34. Conduct training with team members where needed for improved performance and to upskill.
  35. Control Quality of the jobs against the proof before printing.
  36. Ensure all jobs conform to the sales order in terms of die size, ink, colours and paper.
  37. Perform the required quality checks on laser sheets, computer labels, over printing and any other type of product produced within the production department in line with the set standards daily.
  38. Ensure that the Machine Minder has done a Line Clearance and Draw Sheet for the Pharmaceutical Companies that have requested them.
  39. Sign off Certificates of Conformance for jobs that require them daily.
  40. Ensure work tickets are returned to the Filing Clerk timeously and with all necessary documentation etc. inside.
  41. Control master files and customer proofs file and ensure change job masters are filed accordingly.
  42. Ensure that COC are done/ signed off and dates/ invoice numbers appear on the COC’s.
