Job description

To ensure products manufactured conform to quality, safety and reliability standards.

Role:

Quality Control Supervisor

Location:

Johannesburg

Industry:

Manufacturing - Packaging

Qualification:

  1. Must have Grade 12, Matric or NQF4 equivalent qualification.
  2. Must have a clear criminal record.
  3. Certificate in Quality Control.
  4. Minimum 8 years experience in the manufacturing industry.
  5. NQF 4 - Supervisory Management Qualification.

Skills:

  1. Technical knowledge of process, inclusive of equipment, raw materials.
  2. Relevant quality system and certification.
  3. Diversity Management.
  4. Conflict Management.
  5. Decision Making.

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for quality related issues linked to colour and product defects.
  2. Able to suspend employees where either employee behaviour or intoxication poses a risk to colleagues and or equipment.
  3. Able to make good business aligned judgement decisions at an operational level.
  4. Responsible for all activities linked to position as defined.
  5. Ensures that the structure for escalation of responsibility is effective.
  6. Report on appropriate forum issues requiring action / action from other departments / instances of major downtime.
  7. Conduct daily shift handovers.

Quality Control Planning:

  1. Develop and implement quality control procedures and protocols to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  2. Develop and maintain quality control records, including documentation of test results, inspection reports, and corrective actions taken.

Quality Control Inspection:

  1. Apply the company's quality principles and standards.
  2. Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  3. Conduct regular inspections of production processes, products and material to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  4. Conduct testing and evaluation of products to ensure they meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  5. Identify and document non-conformance and implement corrective action.

Data Management:

  1. Capture, analyze, manipulate, conceptualize and communicate data, including statistical control and trending.
  2. Verify critical dimensions in tooling from initial design through to industrialization.
  3. Propose, identify, define and conduct appropriate techniques of measurement.
  4. Qualify measuring equipment.

Team Management:

  1. Lead, motivate and train subordinates.
  2. Manage employees in terms of attendance, timesheets, disciplinary code, policies and procedures, and rostering of tea & lunch breaks.
  3. Ensure that packers and operators record and report rejects and problems immediately.
  4. Monitor production output in terms of job specifications, production plan, and machine specifications.
  5. Ensure control and recording of output, downtimes and deviations.
  6. Hold regular performance reviews to discuss performance against objectives.
  7. Motivate team to develop with a focus on ongoing improvement.

Customer Service:

  1. Responsible for customer inquiries regarding product quality and provide resolutions to customer complaints.

Reporting and Administration:

  1. Ensure daily audits on quality / visual inspections and housekeeping take place.

Health and Safety:

  1. Ensure and enforce that aspects in area of responsibility conform to Health and safety requirements.
  2. Maintain housekeeping standards in area of responsibility.
  3. Work safely and report on safety hazards or issues.
  4. Report any accidents, incidents and near misses.

Food Safety Systems Certification - FSSC:

  1. Apply the site's food safety principles and standards.
  2. Report any food safety hazards or issues to your Supervisor / Manager.
  3. Comply to and maintain all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) in relation to the Company's FSMS (Food Safety Management System).

Self Development and Growth:

  1. Realistic assessment of own strengths and development areas and undertake actions to address weaknesses.
  2. Stay up-to-date with changes in regulations and industry standards and implement changes as required.
