About the role

Ensure product manufactured & purchased meets standard specifications.

Key responsibilities

  1. Preparation of taste panels.
  2. Collect samples from the chute and log samples into system & relevant trackers.
  3. Prepare samples according to method, prepare taste panel sheets and set up panels.
  4. Capture taste panel results on the System.
  5. Keep a retention sample of each batch and ensure system is updated with location.
  6. Conduct analytical testing as per system for each item.
  7. Conduct Calibration and verification of lab equipment.
  8. Ensure Good Laboratory Practices are followed.
  9. Approve items as soon as results are available.
  10. Inspection of sieve tailings, magnet tailings.
  11. Capture results on system and address with Operations team.
  12. Sending pre-shipment samples to customer when required.
  13. Prepare samples for Micro and other external lab test required. Capture sample submission forms according to tests required on SAP. Follow up on results as soon as results available.
  14. Clear communication on material out of spec and ensure handover between shifts are done accordingly.
  15. Conducting Internal Audits.
  16. Daily GMP factory checks.
  17. Replenishment of standards.
  18. Updating R&D std’s with approved production batches.
  19. Dispensing, labelling, and informing Q.C.
  20. Detailed Reporting on all trackers or systems available.

Qualifications and skills

  1. Matric, with completed Diploma or Degree in Food Technology, Biotechnology, Analytical Chemistry or equivalent.
  2. A minimum of 2 yr.’s experience as a QC Analyst, preferably within a Food Manufacturing Environment.
  3. Knowledge of Food Safety, HACCP & GMP.
  4. Computer Literate.
  5. Internal Audit Experience (Advantageous).
