Purchasing Manager
Job description
Developing sound, cost-effective strategies for the purchasing of materials used in
the business.
- Maintaining relationships with suppliers while continually scouting for additional
- Evaluating spending operations while seeking ways to improve and enhance the
- quality of products purchased and the timeliness of deliveries.
- Communicating with senior management regularly regarding the efficient flow of
- goods and services affecting production and purchasing operations.
- Conducting cost analyses and setting benchmarks for improvement on payment
- and delivery terms, stockholding and delivery turnaround times.
- Developing risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product
- shortages and drawing up and maintaining a robust actionable Business Continuity &
- Recovery plan from a procurement point of view.
- Supervising a purchasing and consumable inventory teams and delegating tasks
- across departments when necessary.
- Working closely with the company legal department to ensure contracts and terms
- are favourable and are maintained in a current state in accordance with the group.
Tertiary qualification – BCOM or equivalent in Financial management or related
- Ability to work under pressure with very ambitious deadlines.
- Must have own transport and valid driver's license.
- Willingness to travel between sites.
- At least 5 years experience in purchasing.
- At least 3 years team management experience.
- Ability to engage with senior members of the organisation around pertinent issues
- in his/her care.
- Fluency in Afrikaans and English is a must.
- High proficiency in ERP systems as well as Microsoft is a must.
