An electrical engineering firm in Nelspruit is seeking the services of a project support officer.
POSITION INFO :
The position provides support to various Project Managers and reports directly to the project department HOD. A Project Support Officer will perform the following specific roles:
Ensure the agreed project management methods, standards, and processes are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
Assist the Project Manager and Team Managers in the production and maintenance of project plans.
Take responsibility for the transport and arrangements required on various projects.
Assist the Project Manager in the execution of his day-to-day duties.
Develop and maintain the project library, filing, recording, and reporting systems.
Develop (in conjunction with the project department HOD) and implement appropriate configuration management procedures.
Co-ordinate the production of all reports and produce project summary reports.
Set up and maintain systems for recording project costs.
Define and document procedures in accordance with agreed methodology.
Advise and assist project team members in the application of project procedures, disciplines, and recording and reporting standards.
Maintain risk and issue logs and change control records.
Develop and support effective communication mechanisms between the project teams.
Undertake any other administrative tasks as specified by the Project Manager.
Responsibilities :
Reporting on progress, resources, or costing.
Assist the Project Manager in overseeing projects, mitigating risks, and solving issues.
Quality assurance, for example through collating data, auditing, or compliance checks.
Scheduling meetings and setting agendas for the project team.
Internal and external stakeholder management.
Identify ways in which processes may be improved and put forward such proposals for the Project Manager to consider.
Contribute to formal process reviews to help enable our teams to become more efficient in their processes.
To be a clear, assertive, and patient communicator.
Carry out any other duties and projects as required by the Project Manager, commensurate with the level of the post.
To maintain a first-class level of customer service ensuring that all customers are treated efficiently and in an appropriate manner.
To work within the relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
To attend training courses as identified and agreed for appropriate development.
Undertaking other duties not specifically stated which from time to time are necessary without altering the nature or level of responsibility.
Requirements :
Post Degree in Business Management, Project Management, or Electrical.
Knowledge and experience of a formal project management methodology.
A high degree of computer literacy including advanced knowledge of the MS Office Suite and a willingness and skill to learn new programs quickly.
Project planning ability.
Experience of working in a Project/Manufacturing environment.
