Job Purpose : The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent and qualified individual to lead, coordinate and organise activities and work processes and implement interventions and drive initiatives within the three sub-programmes to achieve the outcomes and deliverables of the Rural Development Programme as set out in the annual performance plan.

Minimum Requirements :

  1. An appropriate 3-year National Diploma / B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Public Administration, Business Administration or Social Science;
  2. A minimum of 3 years' experience in project planning, management, and coordination;
  3. 5 years' experience in community and or stakeholder liaison in a development environment;
  4. 5 years exposure to community development and social cohesion initiatives;
  5. A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence.

Recommendation : A relevant B-Degree.

Key Performance Areas :

  1. Manage and achieve the targets of the sub-programme towards rural development coordination towards economic development in rural areas;
  2. Manage and achieve the targets of the sub-programme social facilitation towards the improvement of socio-economic development in rural areas;
  3. Manage and achieve the targets of the sub-programme to enhance the image and socio-economic conditions of agri-workers;
  4. Promote internal and external integration for the department;
  5. Provide human resource management, financial management and strategic management.

  5. Public service and procedures;
  6. Supply chain management;
  7. Proven computer literacy;

  15. Delivering results and meeting customer expectations;
  16. Relating and networking.

Remuneration : All-inclusive salary package of R per annum (Salary level 11).

Note on remuneration : in addition, service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc.) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
