The Senior Project Manager will be bringing clean energy solutions to customers and be the go-to person for everything involving a project’s organization and timeline. The Senior Project Manager will manage project deliverable requirements and contractor relations, in addition to establishing and monitoring metrics, project schedules, and cost performance of the project in accordance with company systems and practices.
Support the project initiation phase
Support BD team during commercial negotiations with regards to construction queries and clarifications of the client.
Get quotations for IC approved projects, review, negotiate and finalize EPC contracts with the lowest bidder or favourable to the company.
Assist BD and Legal in negotiations of PPA (power purchase agreement)/ lease agreements
Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility, related to the construction, for the ORA (operational risk assessment).
Ensure resource availability and allocation and establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors, clients and all stakeholders.
Evaluate potential subcontractors and assist in project financial controlling through provision of cashflows to relevant internal stakeholders.
Ensure engagement with the Technical Team for the revision of electrical, mechanical and civil quality plans, inspection test procedures, and on-site inspections for contractors.
Comply with South Africa regulations and develop a detailed project plan to track progress.
Perform risk management assessment, related to the construction, to minimize project risks.
Apply, follow up and obtain necessary regulatory licenses from the relevant authorities (e.g. NEPRA, distribution companies).
Implement the project
Execute EPC contract, coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects on-time, within scope and within budget.
Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.
Work closely with the Technical Team in the revision of electrical, mechanical and civil quality plans and assist the Technical Team on design and structural calculations.
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, facilitate the HSE department in ensuring HSE compliance on all sites and at the workplace.
Review and ensure appropriate progress & HSE reporting from the EPC contractors.
Close the project
Oversee the commissioning of the project and obtain the commissioning package as per the company standards from the EPC contractors.
Finalize the construction projects and hand them over to the Asset Management and O&M departments on time.
Required:
Bachelor’s in Engineering or related field.
Minimum 8 years in a managerial role in construction/EPC projects.
Awareness of cultural differences and varying legal/regulatory environments.
Experience of working in a multinational, multi-segment, environment with matrix reporting.
Experience in Utility Approval Process.
Experience with HSE Regulations.
Business skills, budgeting and analysis.
Ability to conduct negotiations with customers, contractors/subcontractors, service providers, local entities, governmental entities and utilities.
Leadership, teamwork and creative problem-solving abilities.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and PM tools.
Preferred:
Project Management certificates (PMP or Prince 2).
Previous experience in PV Power Plant Project Management.
Experience in Wheeling Projects.
