Job description

Responsibilities:

  1. Record, organise, verify, and store data.
  2. Maintain the filing system and retrieval of correspondence and data.
  3. Handle office duties such as correspondence and communication with stakeholders, photocopying, courier, and stock control.
  4. Type letters, address labels, waybills, and any other correspondence as required.
  5. Keep and maintain an asset register.
  6. Assist with incoming and outgoing phone calls from schools and other organisations or institutions.
  7. Arrange and coordinate meetings, and compile minutes thereof.
  8. Track documents to ensure they are signed off by all relevant staff and keep track of their status until the process is completed.
  9. Report on the status of documents.
  10. Prepare RFQs for the purchasing of goods and services and liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding procurement.
  11. Assist with monitoring project-related activities such as science engagement activities for learners and educators, data capturing, and packing.
  12. Make travel and accommodation arrangements.
  13. Assist with Focus week and prize-giving ceremonies.
  14. Perform any ad-hoc duties as required.

Qualifications:

Minimum Diploma (NQF 6) in a science-related qualification. Experience and qualifications in a science-related public sector environment will be an advantage.

Experience:

A minimum of 2 years working experience with administrative capabilities.

Knowledge:

Project administration.
