Manage a portfolio of complex initiatives that span one or multiple lines of business milestones. Full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously.

Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test, and deployment management activities. Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence. Collaborate with Engineering Division teams for optimal project scope.

Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization. Prepare estimates and detailed project plans for all phases of the project. Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes, including the appointment of external resources such as Owner’s Engineers, Independent Engineers, Lenders Technical Advisors, etc.

Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues, communicating across leadership. Manage project scope and changes with a strong understanding and application of business drivers and financial reporting standards.

Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections, and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders. Act as an internal quality control check for the project. Manage ongoing quality control and participate in quality issue resolution.

Ensure that safety is a key focus and of paramount importance in all projects, delivered in full compliance with local legislation and company policy, and adherence to applicable standards, rules, and regulations (local and international).

Assist in disputes, negotiation, arbitration, or litigation, as needed. Support formal/informal schedules to manage the engagement contract. Set and continually manage project and program expectations while delegating and managing deliverables with team members and stakeholders.

Monitor, track, and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies, and critical path deliverables. Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations to various audiences, including the project team, sponsors, EXCO, and key stakeholders.

Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise the project and program team. Ensure that projects and programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards. Manage project and program issues and risks to mitigate impact to baseline.

Extensive understanding of project and program management principles, methods, and techniques is essential. Provide leadership for the project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals and adhering to their responsibilities, including project performance reviews and staff development.

Report all Environment Health Safety findings via the internal reporting systems. Critically analyze our objectives and those of the stakeholders to ensure universally successful outcomes and communicate effectively to all stakeholders with accurate information.

Critically examine our project impact on operations and align with key stakeholders to minimize the impact on operations and balance project delivery and operations. Execute projects cost-effectively and deliver revenue, profit, and cash targets to the business.

Regularly update management on project progress according to plan and KPIs. Advise of areas requiring escalation and decision-making for resolution of non-conformance. Effective management of risk, opportunities, contracts, and claims through risk mitigation measures.

Requirements

  1. A degree in project management, business management, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of project management experience, including tracking and planning projects.
  3. 5+ years of experience working with business stakeholders within a cross-functional matrix environment.
  4. 3+ years of experience with the full product lifecycle, with an understanding of the development lifecycle and various technology methodologies that support that lifecycle.
  5. Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and SharePoint, with experience presenting to stakeholders and/or Senior Leadership.
  6. Proven ability to demonstrate a drive for results and accountability of business needs.
  7. Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across multiple areas to achieve a common business objective.
  8. Interpersonal skills to influence and spur change, facilitate, and enhance performance within a cross-functional environment.
  9. Demonstrate decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions, and identifying priorities.
  10. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  11. Ability to multitask and excellent planning and time management skills.
  12. Excellent leadership abilities.
  13. Clean Drivers’ License.

Detail-oriented and thorough with a BSc qualification in Economics or Engineering. 7+ years of successful leadership experience driving business development teams to develop and secure multi-million-rand energy efficiency and renewable energy or related projects.

Demonstrated business development and relationship management skills with the ability to identify needs and effectively communicate, position, negotiate, and close solutions sales for Power Purchase Agreements.
