Program Manager Cape Town

An exciting business that is building a payment platform that is big enough to unlock the ambitions of a generation is looking to hire a vibrant Principal / Staff Engineer. Somebody that is happy to be hands on and code where required while managing, leading and mentoring the team. You'll be the 2IC for the current CTO that sits in Dubai.

You need to have a solid background in payments, specifically with building payment gateways and payments technology.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor the engineering team while being hands-on with coding as needed.
• Collaborate with the CTO to execute the technical vision of the payment platform.
• Ensure the development of high-quality, scalable, and reliable payment processing systems.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in software development with a focus on payments technology.
• Deep understanding of payment processing systems, including but not limited to payment gateways, merchant services, and fraud prevention.
• Proficiency in 2 of the following programming languages: Java, Python, C++, NodeJS, Go, or Rust, and familiarity with modern software development practices (e.g., Agile, DevOps).
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
• Experience working in a startup environment is a requirement.
• Additional skills or experience in managing engineering teams in hands-on Engineering Manager or VP of Engineering roles would be beneficial.
