Job description

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate with Basic qualification accredited with the South African Nursing Council in terms of Government Notice R425 (Diploma / Degree in nursing as a Professional Nurse). Post Basic Qualification with the duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC in terms of Government Notice R212 in the relevant specialty (Theatre specialty). A minimum of 4 years appropriate experience in Nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. Evidence of current registration with SANC.

Duties:

  • Perform both clinical and administrative duties as required as per SANC requested. Provide effective and quality patient care, provide a safe therapeutic environment that allows for the practice of safe nursing care as laid by the nursing act, occupational health, and safety act and all other applicable prescripts. Demonstrate effective communication with patients, supervisors, and other health professionals and junior colleagues including complex report writing as required. Display a concern for patients, promoting, advocating and facilitating proper treatment and care ensuring that the unit adheres to the principles of Batho Pele. Develop and implement quality assurance programs, policies, operational plans, standard operating procedures, and guidelines for the unit. Improve quality care through reduction of patient complaints and waiting time. Promote quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and standards determined by the institution and other regulating bodies.
