Our client is localizing the production of automotive press parts, poised to significantly contribute to the advancement of South Africa's automotive industry, fostering economic development and job creation in the region.
The purpose of the role is to oversee production activities for the operator, ensuring a smooth production process so that customer targets are met within the required time, quality, and in a cost-effective way. This role maintains a safe working environment and ensures standardized work standards.
REQUIREMENTS
Relevant Diploma in Operations Management and related fields and ISO Certification.
At least 3 years relevant experience in a similar role in Automotive, Manufacturing, or related fields.
Familiarity with safety protocols and regulatory requirements in a manufacturing environment, including knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and equipment operation licenses.
Experience in reporting, including tracking attendance, output, downtime, and other key performance metrics.
Good understanding of operating relevant machinery and equipment used in the press production process, along with knowledge of customer deliverables and the impact of failure/cost of poor quality.
Ability to meet the required KPIs, e.g., cycle times, safety, quality, and quantity.
Knowledge of Microsoft applications.
Basic knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001, IATF 16949.
Understanding of production principles.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the workload of operators and ensure the allocation of work is done, with employees understanding their responsibilities and the standards in which they should be conducted.
Monitor the team’s performance and ensure that hourly and daily targets are achieved through effective planning and manpower utilization.
Investigate root causes of non-conformances and implement countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
Review daily production plans and communicate targets and objectives with the team daily.
Prepare for production planning, including but not limited to Machine, Tooling Die, Material, Rack, Pallets.
Mentor, train, guide, and provide knowledge and support to team members.
Monitor and provide input into the employee relations climate and corrective disciplinary processes.
Ensure that high housekeeping standards are maintained for a safe working environment.
Implement and monitor quality standards as per compliance audit and ISO standards.
Conduct daily inspections and reporting of machine conditions.
Receive components and materials.
Monitor and complete necessary documentation for leave, overtime, etc.
Actively work towards reducing production loss, including but not limited to man-hour loss and machine-hour loss.
Engage in continuous improvement activities for cycle times, defects, process abnormalities, and customer complaints.
