Job description

Our Client In The Manufacturing Industry Is Currently Recruiting a Production Supervisor For Their Branch In Cape Town. Purpose Of Job

  • Assist with all activities of production to achieve the schedule by utilizing resources and skills to achieve high-quality standards to deliver products on time.
  • You will report to the Operations Director and Managing Director with all Quality, Production, and machine-related issues.
Candidates Responsibilities Are As Follows:

Planning & Organizing:

  • Planning/scheduling the daily/weekly manufacturing of items in various departments as per schedule and due dates.
  • Ensuring that the personnel reporting to you are properly informed of the tasks, and to meet the quality standard and due dates.
  • Timely identification of possible problem areas and materials requirements to reduce time.
  • Ensure that the Machines are programmed to perform at the highest level of quality with minimum rejects and reduced idle time.
  • Plan vs Actual must be updated daily before the close of business.

Supervision & Control:

  • Following up on the progress of tasks issued to ensure timely completion of their tasks to quality standards agreed to.
  • Overseeing production to ensure the quality of the product is built into the process.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the Production equipment as per maintenance schedule.
  • Ensuring that all materials and consumables are used as intended. Waste of any kind is not acceptable. Reasonable steps must be taken to minimize shrinkage (theft), and any staff member guilty must be disciplined.
  • Ensuring that all tools and equipment are used and maintained properly, and securely stored when not in use to prevent theft and damage.
  • Building test jigs as and when needed.
  • Set up testing equipment and be able to program production equipment.

Administration:

  • Ensure that all administration duties are completed at the end of the shift e.g. Capturing of inspection and FTPR data.
  • Keep track of manufacturing details for feedback to customers as and when needed – Record on Job cards.
  • Managing factory staff issues and concerns as well as disciplinary processes.
  • Feedback to the Technical Department regarding product costing, process improvements, and design modifications.
  • All contact with customers or suppliers must be done via the Factory Manager or Managing Director.
  • Ensuring that the ISO 9000 system is followed at all times.

Authority:

  • Performance appraisals of personnel reporting to him/her.
  • Disciplinary action of personnel reporting directly to him/her as dictated by “basic conditions of employment”.
  • Giving work instructions to personnel reporting to him/her.
  • Arranging the layout of the responsible work area.
  • Rejecting sub-standard material & products being delivered.
Minimum Education And Requirements:
  • Std 10, Grade 12
  • Diploma in Technical and or Management fields
  • Minimum three years of applicable experience
  • Set-up and programming of Pick and place machine
  • Basic computer skills
