We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly skilled Production Supervisor to lead the daily operations of our clients packaging manufacturing facility. In this role, you will manage production lines, ensure optimal efficiency, maintain high-quality standards, and drive continuous improvement within the team. You will need a strong background in packaging manufacturing processes, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to problem-solve effectively under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Supervision:
Oversee and supervise day-to-day operations on the production floor.
Manage and coordinate the activities of production workers, ensuring production targets are met efficiently and within specified timeframes.
Ensure that all safety protocols are followed and maintain a safe working environment.
Provide leadership, training, and development opportunities for production staff.
Organize work schedules and ensure adequate staffing to meet production demands.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and offer constructive feedback to team members.
Quality Control:
Monitor and enforce quality control standards to ensure products meet specifications and regulatory requirements.
Inspect production processes regularly, troubleshoot issues, and resolve quality or performance discrepancies.
Implement corrective actions as needed to address quality issues.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (maintenance, quality, engineering) to identify and implement process improvements.
Suggest and drive initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve production throughput.
Lead Kaizen or other improvement activities, promoting lean manufacturing principles.
Inventory and Equipment Management:
Ensure proper inventory levels of raw materials and packaging components are maintained.
Coordinate with procurement to order materials as needed.
Manage and oversee the maintenance and proper functioning of production equipment and machinery.
Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of production metrics, employee performance, and any incidents.
Prepare regular reports on production output, downtime, and operational issues.
Ensure all documentation complies with company policies and industry standards.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and industry regulations.
Monitor production processes for compliance with safety standards and ensure all team members are trained in safe operating practices.
Problem Solving:
Quickly address and resolve any operational or technical issues that arise on the production floor.
Act as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting production or equipment issues.
Qualifications:
Education:
Matric (High School Diploma)
Skills:
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to manage a team and resolve conflicts effectively.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
Proficiency in using production software, MS Office, and other operational tools.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
In-depth understanding of packaging processes and safety standards.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may require standing, walking, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
Comfortable working with machines and automated equipment.
