Job description

We have an opportunity for a Production Manager in the Manufacturing environment, Pietermaritzburg.

The Production Manager will oversee the manufacturing process within the company and ensure the production lines are running smoothly with minimum downtime. The role involves making important production decisions, scheduling production timelines, and planning resource allocation, thus boosting productivity and efficiency.


Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement production schedules, and coordinate with various departments for resource allocation.
  2. Supervise, train, and motivate team members to ensure high productivity.
  3. Implement and maintain quality control processes.
  4. Develop and manage the production budget, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  5. Enforce health and safety compliance in line with the company policy.
  6. Lead continuous improvement practices, identify opportunities for process optimization, and implement lean manufacturing principles.
  7. Maintain open communication with other departments and provide regular updates to senior management.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Production, Operations, or Engineering.
  2. 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing.
  3. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  4. Proven knowledge of production processes, quality control, and health and safety standards.
  5. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, and an ability to solve problems and make data-driven decisions.
  6. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a manufacturing plant environment and may be required to work some evenings and weekends to meet deadlines. They will be exposed to machinery and noise.
