Production Manager / General Manager

My Client is an internationally recognized grower, packer, and exporter of citrus fruit and table grapes. Their farms and pack houses are situated across the Western Cape, with our head office in Bellville.

They currently have a vacancy for a production manager at Klipbult, our farm in Buffeljags River, outside Swellendam. This established citrus farm will be supplemented with avocado orchards in the future. The position is available immediately and will report to the farm manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Production: Plant citrus/avocados, schedule irrigation, apply fertilizer, pest, plague, and weed control, prune, harvest, monitor, all manipulations.
• Personnel and administration: Labor planning and management, recordkeeping, plan transport and accommodation, maintenance (equipment/orchards/general).
• Financial: Cost control by focusing on productivity.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND DETAILS

• Applicants should be post-matric with a relevant tertiary qualification in agriculture, with at least 10 years of experience in agriculture production.
• Knowledge of modern production practices and specific knowledge/experience in irrigation practices will be to your advantage.
• Good leadership and communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel).
