Our client is seeking a Production Manager to join their team. This is a hands-on management position ensuring that product that arrives for processing and leaves after processing meets all required standards throughout the process. The position requires an individual who is physically fit and active to be on the floor involved with leading, managing and implementing the various functions of the process flow.
Responsibilities:
Lead and Manage a Team: Meet the deliverables for our client's Strategic Objectives ensuring a productive work team.
Process Coordination: Coordinate and oversee various stages of work to ensure all process flows, food safety standards and health and safety standards are adhered to as well as identify current areas of downtime and potential areas of downtime in line with our client's standard practices.
Stock Management: Implement demand management for process planning to ensure processing flow occurs, avoid bottlenecks and downtime.
Food Safety, Quality Controls and Maintenance: Ensure the required processing, food safety and maintenance standards are implemented throughout the processing workflow, being accountable for food safety and processing standards.
Skills:
Computer literacy in basic Excel and IT operating systems experience.
Absolute attention to detail; there can be no oversights in quality, food safety, packaging and processing.
Ability to work under pressure and be available to address all processing milestones as well as bottlenecks that may occur.
Ability to understand systems and processes to be able to analyze situations to initiate problem solving and be a part of solution finding.
Be responsible and accountable for allocated duties and meet all targets as agreed with the General Manager.
Contribute towards the smooth running of the organisation in general by understanding impact on the team, stakeholders and the business.
Qualifications:
Tertiary qualification in fresh food processing is required as well as Food Safety Standards.
Technical knowledge, management and experience (minimum 10 years) in Macadamia nut processing, Food health and safety standards and practices, Processing and Logistics integration.
Experience should be at a middle management level.
Integration of automated systems; Nutlogger or similar systems are beneficial.
Information review, reconciliations, trouble-shooting, with report writing and extensive communication with required parties.
Physically fit and healthy to be able to do manual work for an entire shift (may include day shifts and/or night shifts), working at heights, climbing stairs and walking through processing plant.
A medical assessment to determine workplace fitness is an inherent requirement.
