Production Manager

Production Manager Job available in Buffeljags Rivier, Swellendam, Western Cape

We are currently looking for a Production Manager for Buffeljags Rivier. This established citrus farm will be supplemented with avocado orchards in the future. The position is available immediately and will report to the farm manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Production: Plant citrus/avocados, schedule irrigation, apply fertilizer, pest, plague and weed control, prune, harvest, monitoring, all manipulations.
• Personnel and administration: Labor planning and management, recordkeeping, plan transport and accommodation, maintenance (equipment/orchards/general).
• Financial: Cost control by focusing on productivity.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Applicants should be post-matric with a relevant tertiary qualification in agriculture, with at least 10 years’ experience in agriculture production.
• Knowledge of modern production practices.
• Specific knowledge/experience in irrigation practices will be to your advantage.
• Good leadership and communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel).
• Valid driver’s licence.
