Daily operations: Plan, coordinate, and oversee all daily production activities to ensure smooth and efficient plant operations.
Team management: Lead, motivate, and manage a dedicated team of production staff. Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure the team’s productivity and development.
Production scheduling: Develop production schedules, ensuring alignment with customer orders, stock levels, and raw material availability.
Budget & cost management: Monitor and control production costs and oversee the production budget. Implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining product quality and safety standards.
Maintenance oversight: Manage the plant’s maintenance portfolio, including regular inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance of production equipment.
Health & Safety compliance: Ensure the production process adheres to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, maintaining a safe working environment.
Quality assurance: Oversee quality control procedures to ensure that all products meet company and industry standards for purity, consistency, and quality.
Contractor management: Work closely with contractors for plant maintenance, equipment installation, or repairs. Ensure all external service providers meet agreed timelines and quality expectations.
Reporting: Prepare regular reports on production performance, including KPIs, progress towards targets, and any issues or improvements identified.
Requirements:
A relevant degree or diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field is advantageous but not essential.
Proven experience in a production or operations management role, preferably in the chemical, manufacturing, or food & beverage industry.
Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop a team.
Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with staff, contractors, and senior management.
Organisational skills: Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines.
Budget management: Experience in managing budgets, controlling costs, and achieving financial objectives.
Problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot production issues and implement solutions effectively.
Occupational Health & Safety awareness: Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to production environments.
Technical knowledge: Understanding of distillation processes and equipment maintenance is desirable.
