Key Objectives :
- Oversee the end-to-end manufacturing process to ensure all requirements are planned for and production lines run efficiently to meet production demands.
- Ensure products are manufactured to the highest quality standards and that all production team members adhere to required industry-related standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Carefully plan production to maintain required stock levels, ensuring both minimum and target levels are consistently met.
- Evaluate MRP sales forecasts and adjust production plans accordingly, prioritising critical and unforeseen issues.
- Manage and create production schedules to ensure on-time completion of products.
- Work with Procurement to ensure all raw materials are on-hand in sufficient quantities.
- Partner with Dispatch to ensure that stock is ready for timely delivery to customers, adhering to local and export packaging and labelling requirements.
- Collaborate with the Quality department to ensure all products meet the highest standards of quality.
- Ensure all OHS and quality standards are adhered to, conducting regular inspections to maintain safety and operational efficiency.
- Manage the fault-finding process for any out-of-specification products and resolve issues promptly.
- Monitor production, resolve issues, and escalate significant problems to senior management as necessary.
- Evaluate production equipment and schedule regular maintenance to ensure minimal downtime.
- Proactively manage the production team, ensuring effective scheduling of staff and setting daily productivity goals.
- Motivate, support, and train production staff to maintain high-quality standards.
- Maintain up-to-date production records, including metrics, reports, and documentation.
- Continuously improve the production process to enhance efficiency, with approval from senior management.
- Evaluate workflow procedures to identify areas for improvement without compromising safety or quality.
- Analyse budgets, control production costs, and identify measures to reduce waste.
Experience and Qualifications :
- Education : Grade 12 plus a relevant 3-year degree or diploma.
- Experience : Minimum of 5 years in production management, with experience in the chemical industry considered advantageous.
- Strong communication, numeracy, and computer literacy skills.
- Excellent people management skills and the ability to manage staff effectively.
- Capable of identifying problems and implementing preventative strategies.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with various teams and external suppliers.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work well with multiple departments and always keep the customer’s needs in mind.
