Job description

Role Description

Plan and organise labour schedules according to production requirements within the operations of the meat plant and influences overall production efficiency.

Effectively order raw materials from the suppliers for production in line with the meat plant operations manager.

Collaborate with Finance and Operations teams to effectively manage budgets in line with operations to ensure financial alignment with production objectives.

Ensure that Health and Safety regulations are met across the operations.

Determine quality control standards on products developed and ensure adherence to quality standards.

Oversee Production processes across the operations.

Manage movement and availability of stock and raw materials.

Collaborate with maintenance for equipment maintenance and repairs and ensure all production equipment is operational.

Forecast orders and plan production accordingly.

Manage operations in line with the orders received and influences production efficiency to meet customer orders.

Ensure relevant training sessions across the operations.

Deliver results and meet customer expectations.

Develop and review standard operating procedures and make suggestions where necessary.

Manage stakeholders to ensure you deliver excellent customer experience.

Manage quality of productions and minimise and/or eliminate waste.

Good housekeeping practices.

Minimise and eliminate waste, ensuring quality productions through development and implementation of quality control measures.

Interface between operations and transport.

Manage shrinkage in the area.

Manage damages and pilferage.

Manage the smooth and efficient manufacturing of goods.

Collaborate with top management to understand objectives and requirements.

Regularly prepare budgets and cost reports for production.

Divide responsibilities and tasks across the team to make production more efficient.

Resolve any problem that occurs.

Evaluate performances and constantly improvise practices.

Conduct regular inspections of machinery and equipment.

Oversee that the inventory of all the equipment and resources is maintained.

Ensure that health and safety, quality and hygiene protocols are upheld.

Approve regular maintenance work.

Sanction purchasing of equipment.

Uphold the policies and standards of the company.

Ensure that the agreed standards of productivity are met by managing production schedules.

No monetary loss is incurred due to unnecessary waste or quality failures.

Ensure that effective quality control measures are implemented and enforced.

Staff planning, track competencies of subordinates and provide leadership, motivation and development as required.

Consult with People Partner on staff recruitment, disciplinary, performance, training, and termination processes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential: Grade 12/ NQF 4
  • Desirable: Blockman NQF 3 (or 3 years' experience within the meat industry)
  • Essential: Previous Management Experience within the Meat Processing industry
  • Clear criminal record
  • Essential: Knowledge of Meat Market hygiene and safety standards
  • Knowledge of Quality assurance systems within the Meat Industry
  • Computer literacy
  • Excellent people management skills
