Production / Planning
To work with the foam manufacturing team to ensure that safety, production and quality standards are met and to provide analytical data for process improvements.
Management of Jobs / Employees / HR Matters / Health & Safety
Ensure that safety is the number one priority in all Foam plant department activities and that all safety procedures are followed by all members of the Foam plant team. Oversee EH&S activities for the Foaming department.
Monitor daily foam production and supervise the foam production workforce as part of the training process. Adjust formulas as needed to maintain product within specifications. In this role, the employee must be fully capable of managing the line in the absence of the Technical or Foaming Manager.
Participate, along with the Technical Manager or Foam plant Manager, in all foam department HR related activities such as appraisals and disciplinary activities.
As part of the Foaming team, conduct trials to develop new and improved manufacturing processes and foam formulations.
Provide analytical expertise for process improvements and mechanical or electrical upgrades.
Troubleshoot equipment problems and solve process issues.
Direct/facilitate continuous improvement teams and training.
Qualifications:
Matric and/or NQF3 minimum.
Chemical Engineering / Mechanical / Electrical qualifications a plus.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years experience in a flexible PU foam manufacturing environment.
Skills / Attributes / Knowledge:
Must have planning/organization, analytical and strong problem-solving skills.
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude to facilitate troubleshooting in the foaming process.
Knowledge in Microsoft Word/Excel and Outlook.
Must be able to lead a team.
At times must be able to work independently, task-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
