Product Owner

Product Owner position available in Stellenbosch.

As Product Owner, you will be proficient in modern coding technologies to drive the execution of the product roadmap.

You will bridge the gap between the technology team and other stakeholders, ensuring all aspects of the product come together cohesively.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of Agile development, backlog management, and user-centered product design — coding experience is a strong plus.

This role reports into the Executive Director, but will work alongside the Head Technology, Head of UX and other key stakeholders.

Salary: R960k per annum / Market Related / Negotiable.

Requirements:

• 5+ years’ experience as a Product Owner within a technology-driven company.
• Strong understanding of Agile development processes.
• Familiarity with backlog management tools (Jira, Asana).
• Knowledge of modern coding technologies (JavaScript, React, Node.js, etc.).
• Strong requirements gathering and documentation skills.
• Proficiency in defining and refining user stories, acceptance criteria.
• Understanding of digital product development and the end-to-end processes.
• Technical knowledge to communicate with engineers and support development decisions.
• Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze key metrics.
• Passion for fundraising, social impact, or nonprofit technology is a plus.
• Strong technical acumen; coding experience is a plus.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to drive alignment and execution.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience working closely with UX, UI, and design teams.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively to various stakeholders.
• Confidence in presenting to internal stakeholders, potential clients, external partners and leadership teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Roadmap execution.
• Manage the backlog, maintaining, refining, and prioritizing the product backlog.
• Ensure smooth sprint planning, execution, and delivery collaborating closely with the development team.
• Facilitate timely delivery by driving backlog items estimation and maintaining the development.
• Define clear feature specifications, definitions of ready, of done, and validate their completion.
• Bridge communication between tech and business stakeholders.
• Work with marketing, operations, and customer success teams to ensure seamless product adoption and growth.
• Help shape and refine the vision, bringing innovative ideas to the table.
• Act as a bridge between UX/UI/design and technology, working closely with the Head of UX/UI to refine user experiences.
• Serve as a soundboard for design and technology decisions.
• Confidently present to potential clients and partners.
• Staying up to date with the latest coding technologies and be able to contribute to technical discussions, problem-solving, and being able to contribute to development.
• Manage the product development lifecycle using Agile methodologies.
