Position Overview

The Procurement Clerk is responsible for supporting the procurement team in the acquisition of goods and services for the organization. This role involves managing purchase orders, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely delivery of materials.

Responsibilities

  1. Processing Purchase Orders: Create, process, and track purchase orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  2. Vendor Communication: Liaise with vendors to obtain quotes, negotiate prices, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  3. Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain inventory levels, and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure stock availability.
  4. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, including purchase orders, receipts, and invoices.
  5. Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with organizational policies and procedures.
  6. Cost Control: Assist in monitoring and controlling procurement costs to stay within budget.
  7. Supplier Evaluation: Evaluate and report on supplier performance and reliability.
  8. Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the procurement team as needed.

Qualifications

  1. Education: Matric or equivalent; additional certifications in procurement or supply chain management are a plus.
  2. Experience: Previous experience in a procurement or administrative role is preferred.
  3. Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills; excellent communication and negotiation abilities; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software; attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
