We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Process Safety Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical engineering and a proven track record of ensuring process safety within a chemical manufacturing environment. The Process Safety Engineer will be responsible for identifying and mitigating process safety risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementing best practices to improve overall safety performance.
Responsibilities:
Conduct process safety evaluations, hazard assessments, and risk analyses for chemical processes.
Develop and implement process safety procedures, policies, and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Coordinate process safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and provide recommendations for improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process safety improvements and initiatives.
Lead process safety training sessions for employees to increase awareness and understanding of safety protocols.
Investigate process safety incidents and accidents to determine root causes and develop corrective actions.
Monitor and track process safety performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and regulations related to process safety to ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 5 to 10 years process safety experience in a high-paced chemical manufacturing environment, preferably in a batch processing reaction chemistry environment.
Strong knowledge of process safety management regulations and industry standards.
Experience with hazard analysis techniques (e.g., HAZOP, FMEA).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
In-depth understanding of the entire manufacturing plant layout, operations, and interdependencies.
Proficient in system safety, hazard identification, and risk analysis (HIRA) processes.
Strong skills in risk assessment, data analytics, and root cause failure analysis techniques.
Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, process safety, relevant policies, procedures, the OHS Act, and other applicable legislation.
Expertise in Distributed Control Systems (DCS) configuration and management.
Advanced understanding of relevant chemistries and chemical manufacturing technologies.
Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and design.
Advanced skills in project management and portfolio management principles, with the ability to lead projects effectively.
Strong leadership and management skills with a proven track record of guiding and developing teams.
