Process Controller #2 Digester

We’re on the lookout for a Process Controller #2 Digester to safely, efficiently, and effectively operate the equipment and DCS panels at fibreline #2 Digester, ensuring optimum production and quality with minimum downtime and effluent.

As a Process Controller #2 Digester, you will be responsible for:

• Must have a good understanding and knowledge of the plant.
• Perform pre–start and running plant checks on DCS and ensure controls are in correct modes as per best operating practices.
• Start up and shut down Digester 2 plant according to best operating practices.
• Monitor and control cooking, screening, and washing parameters to achieve desired qualities and pulp properties.
• Ensure operation adheres to effluent, emissions, and water consumption budgets.
• Take corrective action whenever plant problems occur.
• Report operational challenges, abnormal conditions, and equipment defects to the Shift Superintendent.
• Initiate notifications to various maintenance departments.
• Remain in constant radio contact with outside operators and engineering team when required.
• Maintain a high standard of safety awareness.
• Record run rates and downtime on OEE system.
• Keep comprehensive logs and participate in SBT RCA investigations.
• Perform isolations for plant maintenance using safe work procedures.
• Write out clearance certificates for plant maintenance.
• Relieve on plant sections where licensed.
• Ensure a comprehensive shift handover.
• Provide on-the-job training for trainees.
• Carry out BBS observations.
• Maintain a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all times.
• Perform any other tasks as assigned by Shift Superintendent.

What are we looking for?

• Matric with Maths & Physics or an equivalent NQF 5 qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant production experience.
• Outside Operator license.
