Our Client has a requirement for a Principal CS&A Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Hinton House, with site visits to Sellafield, Cumbria.

Role Purpose of the Principal Civil Structural Engineer

The Principal CS&A Engineer will play a key role in the project, supporting the decommissioning of hazardous legacy facilities at Sellafield. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and ensure compliance with regulatory and quality-assured standards.

Job Role Responsibilities of the Principal Civil Structural Engineer

• Report daily to Sellafield Ltd (SL) CSA Responsible Engineer.
• Provide leadership and support to the JV CSA design and site engineering teams.
• Attend Warrington office minimum 3 days per week and visit Sellafield fortnightly to engage with multidisciplinary teams.
• Review and approve CSA JV Design submissions and check PMACD documentation.
• Assess and accept/reject TQ/PP submissions.
• Oversee the progression of structural design drawings, calculations, and documents to ‘As Built’ status.
• Collaborate on fire strategy arrangements and fire-rated service hanger supports.
• Interface with the multidisciplinary design team and liaise with SL capability for issue resolution.
• Support Safety Case work, including Design Justification Reports (DJRs).

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

• Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) – MICE or MIStructE.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the nuclear sector, covering new build and decommissioning projects.
• Proven leadership experience within an engineering function.
• Strong knowledge of British Standards and nuclear industry design principles.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Full UK Driving Licence (or equivalent).

Candidates must have lived and worked in the UK for the last 5 years to be eligible for SC clearance.
