Job description

The primary objective of a pricing analyst is to determine the optimal price for a product that will maximize profits for the company. This involves computing, updating and maintaining the pricing within the relevant systems.

The position reports directly to the Finance Business Partner.

Overall, the primary objective of a pricing analyst is to help the company achieve its financial goals by setting prices that optimize revenue and profitability.

To qualify, you'll need:

  • Grade 12
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or data science
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in retail, pricing, or finance role

To analyze complex data sets and interpret market trends, a pricing analyst should possess deep business acumen, including a thorough understanding of the company's products, customers, and competitive landscape. Knowledge of financial concepts such as profit margins, revenue growth, and cost structures is also important.

Effective communication skills are essential for a pricing analyst to convey pricing strategies and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders in both verbal and written formats. The ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as sales, marketing, and product development is also necessary.

Your responsibilities will include:

The pricing analyst will collaborate with sales and finance to establish promotional and discount strategies, analyze markets to prepare pricing, and maintain a pricing database. They will also prepare reports, presentations, and analysis for budgeting and forecasting purposes. Other responsibilities include monitoring margin performance, preparing pricing strategies for slow-moving stock, and automating pricing models for improved efficiency. Additionally, they will ensure the accuracy and maintenance of foreign exchange contract registers and allocate contracts to relevant vessels within service level agreements.
