Job Title: Pr Eng IPP Project Developer and Manager

Location: Johannesburg, South Africa

Our company is seeking a qualified and experienced Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with expertise in Independent Power Producer (IPP) projects to join our team as a Project Developer and Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and management of IPP projects in Johannesburg.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead the development of IPP projects from concept stage through to financial close and construction.
2. Manage all aspects of project development, including feasibility studies, permitting, grid connection, off-take agreements, financial modeling, and stakeholder engagement.
3. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
4. Oversee project budget, schedule, and quality control.
5. Monitor project progress and performance, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
6. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
7. Provide technical expertise and guidance on engineering design, procurement, and construction activities.
8. Develop and maintain relationships with key industry players, government agencies, and financial institutions.
9. Prepare project reports, presentations, and proposals for internal and external audiences.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
2. BTech in Electrical Engineering.
3. 1 – 3 years design experience in a work environment.
4. Minimum of 3 years in a management position.
5. Experience in Renewables.
6. Microgrid experience required.
7. IPP Project development and Implementation (Added advantage).
8. Must be registered with Engineering Council of South Africa (Pr. Eng).

Required Skills and Competencies:

1. Ability to produce designs using CAD software (AutoCAD and Microgrids).
2. Be able to design solar plants using Helioscope or similar PV design systems.
3. Ability to prepare and manage project budgets and cash flow.
4. Produce detailed quotes and BoQ with detail.
5. Familiar with Eskom standards and processes.
6. Experience in HV, MV and LV installations.
7. Manage implementation of small and utility-scale projects.
8. Ability to develop Utility Scale projects.
9. Knowledge of South African Engineering standards.
10. Must understand the OHS Act.
11. Strong leadership skills.
12. Must have own vehicle and driver's license.
13. Willing to travel.
14. Willing to be away from home for extended periods of time for projects.
