Porter

A vacancy exists for a Porter based at Life Mount Edgecombe Private Hospital reporting to the Reception Supervisor. The successful candidate will be part of a professional team that is continuously striving for the highest standards of quality in patient care.

Critical Outputs

• Transport patients from reception to wards and vice versa.
• Transport patients from wards to doctor’s rooms and x-ray.
• Check trolleys for cleanliness and whether in need of repairs (maintain in good working condition).
• Assist in making work-related photocopies.
• Assist with ad-hoc duties as required by the Reception Supervisor during busier periods.
• Deliver correspondence to doctors as required.
• Provide assistance to nursing staff with the movement of patients in a safe, professional, and friendly manner.
• Provide quality service at all times.
• General administrative functions as requested.
• Assist the filing clerk with filing when on leave/sick.
• Assist pharmacy with transport of prescriptions to the ward and patient files to reception.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Working experience in the hospital environment is advantageous.
• Experience in dealing with people.
• Knowledge of hospital procedures.
• Team player.
• Must be willing to work according to the flexi-hour system including night duty.
• Position includes working shifts.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Reliable and trustworthy.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative to achieve set objectives.
