Polymer Technologist

The purpose of this role is the design and development of new materials, technology and manufacturing processes that use polymers and development of moulds used to form the material during manufacture.

Minimum qualifications:

• B.Tech - Polymer Technology / Chemistry (Polymer Chemistry)

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years experience in a polymer manufacturing environment
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience in composites and / or rubber industries
• Experience in the electrical power transmission / distribution industry advantageous
• Legal knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, basic understanding of South African Labour Laws
• ISO9001 Quality Management standard and related systems
• Proficient in MS Office - Intermediate level

Key responsibilities:

• Manufacturing - ensure technical and cost stability of the Fibreglass Reinforced Polymer and Silicone Rubber Plants
• Continuous improvement of the quality and cost of material produced in the FRP and Silicone Rubber Plants
• Product development (support)
• Quality management (support)
• Material procurement (support)
