Pharmacist Assistant | Post Basic

A vacancy exists for a Pharmacist Assistant Post Basic based at Life Peglerae Hospital, reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, Sonique van den Berg. The purpose of this role is to conduct nursing activities to ensure quality patient care.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the quality pharmaceutical services, financial objectives, legislative compliance, and people management requirements are achieved to the required standards.

Critical Outputs

• Supplying of medication to the wards and theatre on requisitions and assist with management of all pharmaceuticals within the hospital under supervision of a pharmacist.
• Controlling inventory (ethical and surgical).
• Assisting in aggressively managing dead stock in the hospital.
• Stock-take, cycle counts and investigation of variances.
• Processing of patient credits.
• Replenishing the emergency cupboard.
• Unpacking ethical and surgical stock, checking expiries and invoices.
• Ensuring that the security protocols are adhered to.
• Maintaining high ethical and professional standards.

Requirements

• Grade 12.
• Sound knowledge of at least 2 years on stock control in a hospital environment.
• Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage.
• Hospital experience and knowledge of systems (iMeds) is a requirement as well as hospital stock control experience.
• A person who is result orientated, pays attention to detail, and has excellent interpersonal as well as communication skills is needed.
• Customer focus, a commitment towards continuous improvement, the ability to work independently and the management of time is required.
• Willingness to work overtime, afterhours and weekends also required.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment.
• Ability to work under pressure.
