Dis-Chem Pharmacies’ in Ballito has an opportunity available for a Pharmacist Assistant Basic Qualified to join the team. The main purpose of this role will equip learners to understand the underlying principles of all of the major areas related to the pharmaceutical environment and promoting the notion of quality lifelong learning.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:
Grade 12 / Matric
Life Science and or Physical Science and obtained at least an average of 50%.
Basic Pharmacist Assistant Qualification.
Job Description:
The sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances;
Assist with the compounding, manipulation or preparation of a non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to a formula and Standard Operating Procedures approved by the responsible pharmacist;
Assist with the manufacturing of a non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to a formula and Standard Operating Procedures approved by the responsible pharmacist;
The re-packaging of medicine;
The distribution and control of the stock of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines or scheduled substances;
The provision of information to individuals in order to promote health;
Learn to accurately interpret scripts and act in a professional and responsible manner and within the legal requirements in accordance with the South African Pharmaceutical Council;
Capture patient details accurately and verify the patient’s details on the system;
Ensure accurate picking/packing/labeling and checking of medication and be aware of common dosages as well as important drug interactions;
Give accurate instructions to the patients regarding the correct use of medicine supplied;
Keep abreast of changes in medical aid procedures and requirements for claims and dispensing;
Ensure that all medications are checked for accuracy by a pharmacist and signed by a pharmacist;
Assist in the sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances;
Advise and assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter and front-shop;
Follow up with patients regarding script tracking reports as requested by the dispensary manager and follow up appointments;
Explain all medical aid costs to patients.
Competencies
Essential:
Ability to work under pressure;
English and 2nd language – Read, write and speak;
Deadline driven.
Advantageous:
3rd Language.
