Permanent - Plant Maintenance Manager - Ekurhuleni (East Rand) - South Africa

Design and implement maintenance plans and strategies as well as preventative maintenance programmes to ensure optimal functioning of equipment, machinery and tooling, minimising downtime and maximising productivity. To lead the maintenance team in ensuring the reliability, availability, and efficiency of plant and equipment assets.

JOB FUNCTION:

1. Plant Maintenance and Improvement:
   • Implement and maintain maintenance management systems.
   • Coordinate maintenance schedules to meet production requirements.
   • Implement and manage maintenance spares procurement and stock.
   • Implement plant and tooling expansion, upgrade and maintenance projects.
   • Manage and implement plant digitisation strategy: SCADA, MES.
   • Implement and maintain plant and equipment projects and maintenance processes.
2. Tooling Management:
   • Source and procure tooling following the commercial process.
   • Ensure that new/modified tooling meets production and quality requirements.
   • Manage the evaluation, maintenance and documentation related to the condition of all tooling.
3. Budget Management:
   • Develop the annual budget for plant and tooling related projects, maintenance and tooling.
   • Control project and operational expenses within budget.
   • Implement cost saving measures while ensuring maintenance operations remain efficient and effective.
   • Manage supplier service level agreements.
4. Safety and Compliance:
   • Perform the duties of a GMR2 appointment.
   • Draft and implement safety policies and procedures.
   • Deal with plant related safety issues.
   • Comply with relevant regulations, industry standards and company policies related to SHEQ.
5. People Management:
   • Plan, select, develop and maintain workforce capabilities for the function as required by the operation.
   • Ensure compliance to company HR policies for department.
   • Develop contingency plans to ensure organisational sustainability.

Minimum Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in engineering (mechanical, electrical or industrial).
• 10 years of experience in maintenance management or a related role within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with maintenance planning, budgeting, and team leadership.
• Strong technical analysis and trouble-shooting skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills, including written and verbal communication and the ability to facilitate meetings/conversations.
