Reporting to IT Manager
Job Purpose
The purpose of the IT Engineer role is to provide technical support for a range of IT services and systems used by the group, including desktops, laptops, peripherals, and software applications. The IT Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of IT infrastructure and minimizing downtime by providing timely resolution of technical issues, conducting regular maintenance activities, and ensuring that systems are up to date with the latest security patches and feature updates.

Cyber Security Responsibilities:
- Deploying and maintaining endpoint security solutions such as anti-virus, anti-malware, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Monitoring computer systems and networks for security breaches, incidents, and vulnerabilities.
- Responding to security incidents, and initiating appropriate measures to contain and mitigate the damage.
- Raising awareness among employees and other stakeholders about security threats, best practices, and policies.
- Delivering cyber security awareness training to the organisation.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of cyber security awareness training.
- Ensuring that all staff members complete cyber security awareness training on a regular basis.
Desktops, Laptops, Printers and Videoconferencing Responsibilities:
- Installing, testing, and configuring hardware and software.
- Troubleshooting technical issues related to desktops, laptops, printers, and videoconferencing.
- Conducting regular maintenance activities.
- Providing end-user support, including user training and documentation.
Back ups & Disaster Recovery Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that backups are performed according to schedule.
- Regularly testing backup systems and procedures.
- Providing regular reports on backup performance.
System Support Responsibilities:
- Provide user support for Sage.
- Provide technical support for scanning functionality at the company's warehouses.
Compliance and Cost Control Responsibilities:
- Promotes the effective use of financial and other resources.
- Explores opportunities to control and reduce costs.
Customer Service Responsibilities:
- Maintains effective working relationships with customers.
- Identifies and solves problems creatively.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Information Technology or related fields (NQF 6)
- CompTIA Certifications like Microsoft Certifications, other industry certifications
- 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Computer Literacy (MS Office Suite and other job-specific software systems)
- Microsoft Client Operating Systems
- Server and Application Backups

- Communication skills (both verbal and written)
Minimum Requirements:
Matric + Certificate in Information Technology or related fields (NQF 5)
