Job Description:

  • Directs the Sales, Business Development & Customer Service departments to achieve budgeted results and other financial criteria, and to preserve the capital funds invested in the Group.
  • Participates in the development and preparation of short-term and long-range plans based upon broad organisation goals and objectives. Recommends their adoption to the Managing Director.
  • Directs the development and implementation of procedures and controls, to promote communication and adequate information flow, and thereby solidify management control and direction of the Group.
  • Implements proactive and focused sales plans.
  • Supervises Sales & Business Development Managers.
  • Seeks out major clients and forms working relationships with the premier buyers in the industry.
  • Identifies valuable emerging markets.
  • Accurately forecasts future sales and forms sales plans to adapt to constant shifts in the marketplace.
  • Serves as a business representative at major industry events, conferences, trade shows, and expositions.
  • Maximizes company profit through pricing strategies.
  • Foresees and avoids stagnation in the marketplace.
  • Forms sales strategies to keep the company competitive and innovative.
  • Establishes policies (together with the leadership team) that promote the company’s culture, values, and vision.
  • Performs any other related duties as the Managing Director may require from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Job-specific knowledge with a minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in Engineering, Finance or Management or adequate skill and knowledge to perform the duties and responsibilities.

Experience:

  • 5-10 years of sales experience, with 3-5 years in a senior leadership role, successfully leading and motivating teams.

Requirements:

  • Driver’s License and ability to travel if required.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing Sales, Business Development, and Customer Service departments in organisations of similar sizes.
  • An overall working knowledge with at least one ERP System, preferably Syspro.
  • Expertise in MS Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015.
  • Relevant industry experience and knowledge of the target market.
