Job description

We have undertaken the exciting process of bringing our payroll function in-house.

We are looking for a meticulous and organised individual who will be responsible for setting up, developing, and managing our payroll function.

The successful candidate would be based at our Johannesburg Head Office full time.

It would be highly advantageous for the successful candidate to have experience in the regulatory and legislative environments pertaining to payroll in a variety of African countries, but namely Namibia.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Full-cycle processing of monthly payroll for the group of companies (approx. employees) including salaries, leave, benefits, pension fund, taxes, third party recons, compliance, and other deductions.
  2. Preparation and submission of statutory documents: SARS payment documents, etc.
  3. Preparation and submission of Namibian statutory documents: Namibian compliance social security, VET, etc.
  4. Cross-functional coordination with our HR & Finance departments, including helping with year-end audits, interim audits, and requested information for due diligence processes.
  5. Develop & implement payroll policies and controls.
  6. Adhere to monthly payroll processes and deadlines.
  7. Staying up to date with legislative changes: taxation, minimum wages, etc.
  8. All payroll data capturing & staff information amendments.
  9. Generating UIF documentation.
  10. Updating and maintaining employee database.
  11. Training and mentoring of our payroll administrator and other team members.

Requirements

  1. At least 5 years payroll experience preferred.
  2. PaySpace experience preferred.
  3. 2-3 years of Namibian payroll advantageous.
  4. Retail Industry Experience advantageous.
  5. HRIS systems experience is advantageous.
  6. Ability to set up, develop, and manage the entire payroll function in a self-managing fashion.
  7. Experience in working with a group of companies preferred.
  8. Extensive knowledge of the regulatory and legislative environment of payroll.
  9. Professional communication skills.
  10. Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  11. Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  12. South African citizen.
