Job description

The key purpose of this role is to ensure optimum utilization of plant, raw materials, and people, to produce quality products at minimum cost which meets customer requirements and complies with legislation.

Key outputs and responsibilities:

Packaged Volumes:

  1. Ensure that hl. packed by brand/pack are in accordance with plan.
  2. Supply full beer to warehouse and agree on stock numbers.
  3. Maintain/increase number of hl packed per day in accordance with plan and laid down factory efficiency standards.

Packaged Product Quality:

  1. Ensure that the packaging process is controlled such that all quality standards are maintained.
  2. Implement correct action to prevent substandard product and reinforce continuous improvement.

Productivity:

  1. Achieve and improve all targets i.e. hl per man hour; % GLY and hl / factory hour targets; % LEF and hl / machine hour targets.
  2. Control fixed costs, beer loss, and container loss.
  3. Prepare and implement plans that produce required outcomes, including materials, machine maintenance, and subordinate deployment.
  4. Motivate and manage human resources, including performance appraisals, discipline, administration, training, IR climate, absenteeism, etc.
  5. Comply with laid down safety standards and statutory requirements.
  6. Ensure packaging line is clean/tidy at all times.
  7. Report on efficiencies, downtime, and other production-related issues.
  8. Recruit, select, and appoint staff.
  9. Outplacement of staff.
  10. Team and individual goals set and monitored.
  11. High energy levels with a bias for action.
  12. Proactive, good self-starting ability to work with little or no supervision and taking own initiative.
  13. Good problem-solving ability, attention to detail, logical and analytical.
  14. Good planning and communication skills.
  15. Business and financial acumen and strong project management and problem-solving capability.
  16. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build internal relationships.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. BSc Engineering or B Tech Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering.
  2. Packaging Traineeship (in-house).
  3. Packaging experience (high-speed plant and equipment).
  4. Ability to work shifts.
  5. Good understanding of OHS and NOSA requirements.
  6. Should have good verbal, sight, and hearing abilities in order to be able to do the job as prescribed.
