Operations Manager

Westville. A well-established company with a global footprint in the Paper and Packaging industry is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join their team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive operational excellence, logistics, and customer service while contributing to the ongoing success of a thriving organization. Consideration will only be given to applicants with previous experience in the corrugated box industry, or similar background.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the entire process from order placement, reporting, local delivery, warehousing, to payment receipting, ensuring top-tier customer service at all touchpoints.
2. Drive the growth of customer service responsibilities, particularly around mill order placement and management.
3. Optimize logistics processes to ensure smooth, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of customer orders.
4. Act as the primary contact for all local logistics and specialized / technical stakeholders.
5. Ensure the effective management of locally warehoused stock.
6. Collaborate with the overseas Head Office to implement credit and cash collection strategies.
7. In conjunction with Head Office, develop and execute a comprehensive BBEEE strategy.
8. Free up sales staff from non-sales activities to allow them to focus on customer-facing and promotional activities.
9. Partner with Head Office to develop and implement strategies to expand the Industrial Packaging business.
10. Act as the primary contact for key customer relationships, actively managing multiple accounts.
11. Oversee the complete value chain for machinery installations at customer sites, including booking, installation, commissioning, training, and ongoing support.

Requirements:

1. Proven experience in sales, customer service, corrugated technical service, logistics and transport services, or finance / commercial support functions.
2. Previous experience in the corrugated box industry, or similar background.
3. A broad understanding of business operations and strategy development.
4. Ability to manage and execute successful business strategies.
5. Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
6. Self-starter with strong entrepreneurial capabilities.
7. Experience in staff management and team leadership.
8. Quick to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
9. Proven ability to develop and nurture long-term strategic relationships with customers and stakeholders.
10. Ability to pinpoint business opportunities for sustainable growth.
