We have a fantastic opportunity available in Traka Africa for an Onsite SLA Technician in the mining sector.

Purpose of the Role
An Onsite Traka Technician needs to perform several tasks set out to them on a task system. This role requires interaction with stakeholders with the ultimate result to drive maximum productivity and client centricity. An onsite Traka Technician will be required to work with explosives key management and locks (Cliq, Traka, and Videx), pulling reports and providing onsite support to the customer the technician is allocated to. Monthly inspections, analyzing, and troubleshooting systems and equipment are required. Repairs will be done based on inspection sheets. After-hour calls and support must be adhered to. Reading repair manuals and liaising with other professionals are also necessary. The technician will be required to work shifts, namely Morning shift and Night shift.

What you will do…
The main duties of this role include, but are not limited to:
Installation (if Required):
  1. Installation and replacement of Traka Equipment and peripherals
  2. Setup, assemble, test, and configure Traka Hardware and Software
  3. Following direction of the Project / Installation Manager
  4. Maintenance and submission of accurate paperwork and documentation
  5. Customer communication throughout the job
  6. Installing conduit, coring, or trenching
  7. Installing/pulling cable and wire
  8. Mounting panels, field devices, computers, power supplies
  9. Programming, set-up, and testing systems
  10. Testing and inspections
  11. Safe operation of basic electrical reticulation
  12. Understanding wire crimping and installing basic plugs
  13. Basic use of hand tools

Support:
Hardware Support:
  1. Preventative Maintenance – Monthly visit for all covered systems items
  2. Maintenance of all Traka variants, Key management systems, and lockers
  3. Physical check on Traka locks and explosives cars/cassettes and surface boxes.
  4. Installation and replacement of Traka hardware
  5. Setup, assemble, test, and configure Traka systems.
  6. Competent use of tools and associated electrical tools such as drilling machines, electric screwdrivers, etc.
  7. Cleaning of control boards (dusting off and disconnecting all connections, cleaning of connector points with electrical cleaner)
  8. Cleaning and testing of all data fobs (includes all grooves)
  9. Cleaning and testing of all connector strips and solenoids (positive and negative connection screws)
  10. Cleaning and testing of Cabinet Frame and hinges
  11. Checking cabinet hinges (health condition)
  12. Cleaning of cabinet Perspex (polycarbonate or steel) doors (Cracks/Damage needs a replacement)
  13. Alignment of door switch and solenoid
  14. Cleaning and testing of Cliq lock and key
  15. Cleaning and testing of Cliq key battery
  16. Testing of cabinet backup battery
  17. Cleaning and testing of network points and connectors
  18. Emergency release of keys in case of an emergency (emergency document to be completed on site)
  19. Cutting of current security seals (replacement will be required)
  20. Physical check on control boards including cabinet control board, interface boards, and strip connector boards
  21. Physical check of keypads and readers
  22. Physical check on all screens and touch screens
  23. Physical check on all ribbon cables and wires
  24. Physical check on all jumper blocks and dip switches
  25. Cleaning and servicing (oil) Cliq locks and keys
  26. Cleaning and servicing of mechanical and electrical Abloy locks
  27. Cleaning and servicing of Abloy switch locks (Cylinder and key)

Software Support and Customer Support:
  1. Daily report (Production Managers, Mine Overseers, shift supervisors, Safety Department)
  2. System Reports
  3. Standard key report
  4. Overdue keys (Engineers, GEs, Foremen, Explosive Coordinators)
  5. Report to the mine before night shift ends to resolve issues
  6. Help miners and operators before shift start
  7. Email Support
  8. Telephone Support
  9. Remote Support
  10. Support logging on the support site
  11. Research/problem solving
  12. Obtaining relevant signatures for invoices
  13. Follow-up on outstanding orders
  14. Deliveries to be handled at stores
  15. Submission of invoices
  16. Completing and submitting User access forms
  17. Completing and submitting cabinet layouts
  18. Onsite training
  19. Physical check on all software and communications from hardware to software
  20. Completing and submitting maintenance checklists
  21. Submitting quotations on repairs from maintenance checklists
  22. Following up on outstanding orders from maintenance checklists
  23. Completing UAR (service) reports
  24. Programming of Cliq keys as per completed approved forms
  25. Frequent checks on Traka 16bit, Traka 32, Traka touch, Traka web software versions and updates where applicable
  26. Diagnostics test on Traka Touch

Professional Qualifications and Experience
  1. Proven experience as a low voltage technician or similar role
  2. Experience with LAN/WAN networks
  3. Thorough knowledge of computer systems and IT components
  4. Excellent troubleshooting skills
  5. Exceptional organizing and time-management skills
  6. Mining Experience will be an advantage
  7. Underground work will be an advantage
  8. 2+ years’ experience in computer networks and systems maintenance
  9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  10. Good interpersonal skills
  11. Attention to detail
  12. Good problem-solving skills
  13. Communication and reporting skills

Software
Basic understanding of Windows-based computers and software
  1. Basic understanding of what a database is
  2. Basic understanding of networking
  3. Understanding how to use a search engine
  4. SQL Db experience and knowledge
  5. Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
  6. Proficient in database programming and software installation

Essential Qualification
  1. Metric and Code 8 Drivers License
