Reports To: Principal or Assistant Principal

Purpose of Role:

SPARK Schools Foundation Phase Maths teachers drive student achievement by maintaining high expectations for classroom culture, behavior, and academic growth for all students. They are Foundation Phase specialists who receive ongoing professional development customized for their experience and individual needs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Plan for and deliver lessons to students.
  2. Provide instruction in a variety of subjects with engaging lesson plans and resources.
  3. Collaborate with grade level and content area partners to develop rigorous, engaging learning experiences and create individualized behavior and learning plans for all students.
  4. Lead weekly SEL (Social Emotional Learning) circles and implement SPARK Schools Social Emotional Learning curriculum.
  5. Implement behavior management strategies in line with SPARK culture.
  6. Administer assessments to track student progress and analyze data for student growth.
  7. Submit student results data when required.
  8. Attend pre-service professional development before the school year begins and weekly professional development sessions.
  9. Communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.
  10. Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all SPARK Schools events.
  11. Nurture a high-achieving work environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  12. Attend Saturday events and parent community meetings.
  13. Implement strategies from the Crisis Management team.
  14. Adhere to child protection, anti-bullying, and health and safety policies.
  15. Promote the vision and mission of SPARK Schools to staff, scholars, families, and the community.

Qualifications and Criteria:

B.Ed. degree or PGCE in Foundation Phase. Recently qualified teachers are encouraged to apply! Certification through the South African Council of Educators (SACE) and SAQA accreditation for non-South African equivalent qualifications are required. English language fluency and a clear criminal record are mandatory.

Experience:

Recently qualified teachers or those with experience are encouraged to apply!

Compensation: R20,000 per month cost to company.
