Officer : Legal Collections and Recoveries

Primary Purpose

The role of the Legal Collections Specialist is to provide comprehensive support to the National Legal Collections Manager in managing and recovering outstanding debts owed to the bank. This includes conducting legal research, drafting and reviewing debt collection-related legal documents, assisting with court filings, and communicating with clients and debtors. The Legal Collections Specialist will also aid attorneys in preparing for collection-related legal proceedings, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Diploma in Paralegal or equivalent

Experience

• 3 – 5 years' experience in legal recovery, litigation or similar

Technical Competencies

• Legal Knowledge: Understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and principles relevant to the specific area of law (e.g., corporate law, litigation, real estate).
• Research Skills: Proficiency in conducting legal research using databases, libraries, and other resources to support attorneys and legal proceedings.
• Writing Skills: Strong writing skills to draft legal documents, correspondence, and reports accurately and effectively.
• Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with attorneys, clients, and other stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
• Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage case files, deadlines, and documents efficiently.
• Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in legal documents and compliance with legal requirements.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency in using legal software, databases, and office productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
• Ethics and Confidentiality: Understanding of ethical standards and confidentiality requirements in legal practice.
