Occupational Therapist
MES – Johannesburg & Kempton Park
JOB PURPOSE
To manage and give advice on the development of Work Readiness participants and clients in the shelters and training centre. To partner with the Youth and Adults at Risk in ensuring that certain client journey programme goals, elements and activities are accomplished. To ensure individual development in Work Readiness participants, especially relating to client capacity development and preparedness for work in the open labour market. To review treatment plans and interventions periodically, evaluate progress and make changes to these as needed.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- To assess the Work Readiness participant’s condition, capacity and needs holistically and design individualised interventions accordingly.
- To develop and establish strategic business partners for the organisation and the project to develop experiential work environments.
- To develop and use strategic OT partners and referral partners to effectively implement OT-related functions and training (exit) partners for Work Readiness participants.
- Participate in monthly Interdisciplinary Case Conference meetings to discuss the progress of clients, as well as multi-disciplinary case conferences when needed.
- Attend monthly project meetings to discuss operations and therapeutic projects/targets/activities of the project.
- Assist individuals in understanding their own and others' behaviour and how to manage it.
- Support the process of learning and re-learning with the aim of returning to formal work settings.
- Refer those unable to return to the open labour market to sheltered employment options.
- Liaise and refer to other professionals.
- Write reports and attend interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary case meetings to plan and review ongoing treatment plans.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS & KNOWLEDGE
- Degree in Occupational Therapy or relevant tertiary qualification.
- An interest and/or specialisation in Vocational Rehabilitation is advantageous.
- Three years of working experience or more.
- Driver's Licence.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Previous experience working for an NGO would be an advantage.
