RINA is currently recruiting for an ELECTRICAL / MECHANICAL WORKS SUPERVISOR (QAQC)
Location: Eastern Cape, South Africa
Duration: 1 year with possibility of extension
Essential functions/duties:
Ensuring, with support of HS and Environment Manager, the implementation of safety and hygiene provisions in the workplace and environmental protection, in compliance with local legislation.
Assuring the compliance of electrical works performed with Issued for Construction (IFC) Design, Technical Specification, contractual requirements, quality, local laws and site sustainability.
Monitoring and tracking the progress of electrical works activities, promptly detecting eventual criticalities or delays and proceeding in problem solving by coordinating with Site Manager/Coordinator, in order to reach schedule objectives defined.
Performing the measurement and classification of work executed and the compilation of the booklets of measurements and accounting (services entry sheet) required for the payment release.
Implementing Quality Control Plan on site, attending to the test execution when needed, and checking test reports and field data to assure quality requirements are being met.
Detecting possible Non Conformities during the works activities, promptly informing the Site Manager/Coordinator and supporting him in Non Conformity Report opening and problem solving.
Supporting the Site Coordinator by ensuring the implementation of Design Change and Non Conformity resolution during construction and assembly activities.
Monitor the progress and determine if works are going according to the schedule.
Attend all progress meetings.
Check, verify and sign off quality of the works.
Enforce health, safety and environmental plan and report non compliances.
Main Accountability:
Data of Daily work progress and monitoring of their execution.
Data of Daily manpower and crews.
Validation of Site tests (with or without attendance) and Delivery certificates.
Validation of Qualification reports of the Material purchased by the C&SCs with support of OWNER engineering.
Validation of expediting/delivery certificates of the material.
Participation in the teams to check/close the punch lists and their validations.
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of professional cumulative experience in this role or equivalent.
BS Degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline technical diploma.
Valid Driver’s License.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Project).
Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments in adverse and extreme weather conditions and in confined spaces.
Experience with Substation construction including, computers and software specifically MS Project and AutoCAD in order to modify the plans or make simple drawings/sketches.
Checking the connection of cables with cells of connection by establishing a specific approval procedure.
Coordination, scheduling and verification for arrangements of the laying of cables and ground planning as well as knowledge of local codes and standard about main technical aspects of electrical / mechanical standards, constructions safety in their latest and most updated version.
Extensive travel with temporary relocation to construction sites for 6–24 months durations.
