Job description

Main Purpose

The Oil & Gas Sector Specialist will identify new opportunities, build relationships, and drive growth for the company within the Oil & Gas sector. The purpose is to help the company expand its market share, increase revenue, and secure strategic partnerships. Focus on ensuring the company is well-positioned to capitalize on new opportunities and maintain a competitive edge in the Oil & Gas Sector. The targeted customers will include End-Users, Consultants, Project Companies, and Contractors in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Business Development
  2. Secure strategic partnerships.
  3. Perform research on market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities. This includes analyzing geopolitical influences and regulatory changes.
  4. Cold calling whenever necessary, scheduled calls on target market, and generating new project opportunities for the company.
  5. Generate new clients for the company in the Oil & Gas sector.
  6. Regularly visit assigned customers according to planned call schedules.
  7. Prepare BD targets and estimate potential Order Intake per customer and projects.
  8. Generate enquiries, RFIs, and RFQs, distribute them to the appropriate company Africa BU, and continuously follow up to final adjudication.
  9. Prepare, facilitate, and present company, products, solutions, and services presentations to the target client base.
  10. Meet specified BD targets.
  11. Continuously strive to improve the company’s Africa customer service levels.

Administration / Reports

  1. Generate an annual business plan, highlighting developments within the Oil & Gas sector, including strategies to penetrate the market sector and achieve associated revenue that can be generated through successful strategy implementation.
  2. Administration coupled to BD activities:
    1. Customer call reports
    2. Project reports
    3. Monthly Order Intake forecasts
    4. Monthly Order Intake reports
    5. CRM maintenance related to customer database and project lists.
  3. Assist with client technical queries.
  4. Assist with product launches, technical presentations, and trade shows.
  5. Attend management meetings as and when required.
  6. Attend regular BD, Sales, and Projects meetings.
  7. Constantly communicate relevant project information to the various teams in order to improve opportunities at the manufacturing facilities and project-related OEMs.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Matric with an N6 / S4 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification will be an advantage.
  2. Several years’ experience in the Oil & Gas industry, and a network of customers that include End-Users, Consultants, Project Companies, and Contractors in Sub-Saharan Africa will be an advantage.
  3. Experience in Oil & Gas exploration, production, transportation, and refining will be valuable.
  4. A business management qualification would be an advantage.
  5. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Special Requirements

  1. Legal driver’s licence.
  2. Valid passport as international travel may be a requirement.
  3. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  4. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, including formal communications and presenting.
  5. Must possess the ability to work independently and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant them.
  6. Keep abreast of all developments within the Oil & Gas sector.
  7. Perform any other reasonable duty delegated to you.
  8. Willingness and freedom to travel within South Africa and Africa.
  9. A sense of urgency with a strong customer service orientation.
  10. Hardworking, resourceful, ambitious, and have excellent business acumen.
  11. Good negotiating and presentation skills.
  12. Experience in travelling within South Africa and Africa would be an advantage.
  13. Be able to communicate at all levels with corporate clients.
  14. Have a good understanding of how the project environment functions.
  15. Have a good understanding of current and future projects in the Oil & Gas sector.

Working Conditions

  1. Based at JHB South Africa Head Office.
  2. Predominantly out of the office in South Africa.
  3. Position may require out of town and Africa travel from time to time.
  4. Is subject to work beyond normal working hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays should the need arise.
  5. Required to attend and participate in continuing educational programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession.
